Many of us have allowed strife and stress to enter our lives. For example: I have a good friend, although she is a very successful businesswoman with no financial problems at all, she has suffered immensely at the hands of the world. Most of this suffering has come upon her due to the extreme stress she allows into her life. Now she is a Christian, but the demoniac attacks on her life have often left her desperate, in physical and emotional pain so severe that she often desires death. She knows the word, but has never allowed the word to change her life. She lives in such chaos; she never takes time to be still before God.
There is an old saying that says: I cried because I had no shoes, until I saw a man that had no feet. Now this friend of mine cried because of all the things in her life, that were so easily solved, but contrary to the saying, when she saw someone who was much worse off that she, she thought that her situation was even worse than theirs, but it was not. She was a victim of strife and lies from the enemy. I am sure that you know someone who responds to life just like that; in fact it might just be you. Now why is there so much strife and stress in this world? Why do we have to live under this burden, even if sometimes it is even imagined?
Let’s go back to Genesis. God made the Garden of Eden with no strife, no lust, no murder, no death, nothing at all that would cause stress. There was no thought of bills, because everything had been and would always be provided for them. Imagine, Adam was to “tend” the garden. The Bible didn’t tell us that he had to weed, and hoe and cultivate the garden, just tend it. Watch over it and see that it flourished. Eve’s assignment was to be a companion to Adam, and help him. She never had to deal with bill collectors, toxic chemicals in the food, the phone ringing, kids acting out……she lived in peace along side of Adam.
Adam and Even were designed to live forever, they never considered being sick or dying, they didn’t even know what those things were. They lived in joy and peace. They were to dominate the world
(Genesis 1:22) And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the fowl multiply in the earth…
They were to be fruitful and to multiply and bring all life to the earth. The enemy of God which is Satan somehow sneaked in to the Garden of Eden and brought just the opposite of what they had been living
(John 10:10) The Thief comes not but to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to bring life and life more abundantly.
The enemy brought strife, pain, murder lack and death. This was an unexpected event in the lives of Adam and Eve, they didn’t deal well with the change, and they had never felt strife This strife was passed to Cain and Abel, it could have been the thing that caused Cain to snap and commit murder when he felt that Able was receiving more favor from God.
You see, people are not designed to live in the way of the world, the way of sin and death.. Living in lack is contrary to God and the way he designed us to live. No wonder we are suffering as the time gets shorter and shorter. The enemy has launched a full frontal attack, which causes confusion.
1st Corinthians 24:33…and God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…
We are confused because we know this strife is not from God and it is not how we are supposed to be living.
Anyone you talk to who is suffering in stress, knows that there is a better way, they know it down in their spirit. We know that we have been designed to have all of our daily needs provided for us. The curse calls for us to live by the sweat of our face…..
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread.
But we still remember how it is supposed to be. Look at a small child, one of the first things that they learn to say is: mine! Now the world tells us that they are just selfish and self centered and living like the world. But I suggest to you that they are remembering what is like to be with God and all things were theirs during that time. Yet the same child will offer to share what they have which is the love of God that still resides in them. Does that mean we are greedy? Of course not!
Deuteronomy 11:24 Every place where the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours.
God has given us this world to dominate and reclaim for Him, the one who originally made it. In these days we live in chaos and frantic life styles.
Be still and know that I am God
God is love, He is peace. But when you are in stress, you are living the opposite of who and what God is. You are living opposite of how you should be living, when you are agitated and turbulent, and you will never be able to receive the peace of God.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.
So truly then, in order to interact with God, you must be still.
When you are still, your body is not moving, your mind is at rest, you are at rest. When you approach God in this manner, you will be able to receive what he has to say because you are honor his word, his command to us to be Still and Know that He is God. When things come from the spirit, there no explosion, no noise, no fanfare, it is silent and often unobserved because god is peace. During the brief time you have been listening to this message millions of new life forms have come to this earth, no major announcements, they just happen peacefully and quietly because God is a God of peace.
The noise, the explosions come from the world, bombs, guns, screaming, pain and murder etc. These are all stress causers because they are not from God, they are from the enemy. The enemy of God: Satan. When we get in fear and go to God in a frenzied, panicky way, the response is Be still………….Relate to God as God is: He is peace and you need to be still in his presence. When we are frenzied, we show God that we are in fear, that we have no faith. When we are frenzied, we are of the world, and opposite to God. In our panic, we often go so far as to blame God for the chaos in our lives and in the world. We even believe our prayers won’t be answered when we are anxious. We blame God for the chaos that the enemy has made.
Blaming God for the absence of peace is like an apple believing it is prune then it blames other apples for its wrinkled state and dried up life. How can we blame God for the absence of peace in our life, when God is peace and we need to be with God and act like God in order to experience that peace.
When we get nervous we breath shallow and rapidly. When we are in peace and restful we breath deep and drink in the goodness of God. We need to be an instrument: of the peace of God for everyone who is exposed to us. All the non peace in the world will always seek out the Christians who allow it to grow. Non peace is stress and it is a weakness. Your weakness calls you out. It causes you to be attracted to those who enhance your weakness. Your weakness wants to stay alive, it is a negative spirit.
Your weakness wants you to pursue the people who justify it, those who justify your right to be anxious and in stress, and this same spirit drives you away from the people that won’t encourage your weakness but bring love and peace into your life. Your weakness wants to grow and stay alive, it is a spirit a spirit that is not from God.
Adam fled from God because God would not justify his sin. Your weakness does not want you around peace and peaceful people because you will then begin heading toward the peace of God. Walk in the light as he is in the light we are in the fellowship.…if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. You must recognize your weakness. A weakness that is ignored destroys you. But if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins and unrighteousness Worldly not godly, you have sin, a weakness a tendency toward stress; you must recognize it then confess it, repent and head beck to the Peace of God.
Overcome by stress, when God places the answer right in front of you and you are not able to see it. Non peace is not of God, it is your ego, believing the word of the enemy which encourages you to follow the leading of the world.
Ask God to bring you back into the Peace of God. Be still and he will speak to you. If you are busy talking to God, especially is a frenzied fashion, you cannot hear Him. When you are in a conversation with someone, and you talk over them, can you hear them? We come from a place of peace with God before our birth, into this hostile world……..our bodies may live here, but we can still allow our spirit to live in peace. We have accepted chaos as a way of life, when it is in direct opposition to God.
Pull the right people into your life that protect your peace. And simplify you life by eliminating stress. Peace: Un clutter your life, Get rid of tons of extra clothes, old files, bookwork. Donate unwanted items and downsize all unnecessary stuff. Remove all unnecessary things and appointments in your life. If you are not free, you won’t have time to be still and be with God.
Meditate the word and enjoy the simplicity of nature. Put distance between you and critics or enemies-don’t let them rub you consistently. Play-there is more to life than just living faster.
Slow you speech, you driving, you frantic rush against the clock. Don’t interrupt others, but learn listen. Get rid of debt don’t purchase more than you need. I would rather know all about Gods word, than striving to know all the things I don’t know about the world. Don’t let what you don’t know, keep you from focusing on what you do know.
Don’t focus on money……it will dominate your life. Remember your spirit life…..Inspire others by sharing your peace.
BE PRAPARED WHEN YOU FIND PEACE, THAT YOUR LIVE WILL CHANGE TOTALLY.
There are no coincidences when you are with God and in peace. This is he peace that passes all understanding.
PEACE-a word with several different meanings in the Old Testament and New Testament. The OT meaning of peace was completeness, soundness and well being of the total person. This peace was considered God-given, obtained by following the Law.
In the New Testament peace often refers to the inner tranquility and pose of the Christian whose trust is in God thru Christ. This understanding was originally expressed in the Old Testament writings about the coming messiah.
The peace that Jesus spoke was a combination of hope, trust and quiet in mind and soul, brought about by a reconciliation with God. Such peace was proclaimed by the host of angels at Christ’s birth.
Mark 4:39 Peace be still-and calmed the storm
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the heathen I will be exalted in the earth.
The highest knowledge man can attain is the yearning for peace, for the union of his will with an infinite will , his human will with God’s will. Albert Schweitzer. When stress begins building in your life, run back to Eden living, crawl under the wing of the almighty, BE STILL and know that He is God and seek him as a little child, and you will receive the peace of God that passeth all understanding. This peace will reunite you with the Prince of Peace: Jesus Christ.
