This teaching was done at our first conference; use these two teachings as an example how God works in all of our lives! We are going to learn how to get God to help us by listening to His voice.
I want to welcome each and every one of you: some of you are old friends, some of you are new friends and some are to soon become friends, but all of you will be touched by the Holy Spirit with a fresh anointing as you increase your ability to Hear from God. We will be referring to many verses in the Bible. Let’s see what is the Holy Spirit?
Holy Spirit We welcome your tangible presence now. We ask now for the manifested presence of you –tongues of fire RAIN DOWN: AFTER ALL THIS IS AN UPPER ROOM!!! SOMETHING IS HAPPENING HERE…
Feel it fall. Yes you can feel Him, he feels safe, he feels delicious, he comfortable: He brings excitement, He brings encouragement, He brings confidence in pursuing your assignment because HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. We are going to find out who God is in the Bible.
Prayer with God: Father in the name of Jesus we come to you now and we come boldly before the throne of grace: we ask that each heart that is searching finds, each person who needs healing receives the total manifestation and those who are oppressed are released in the name of Jesus.
Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.
We stand before you as kings and priests and we are searching out the matter of hearing your word. As we seek, we will find.
Mark 11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them..
Father we believe for the manifestation of your Holy Spirit: now and we believe that each person who seeks your voice will hear it and for this we give you all the praise, honor and glory in Jesus name: Amen

HEARING FROM GOD
Matthew 10:19
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
I have had a distinct privilege of praying for many people at a very large church. The Holy Spirit directs the person who is seeking to the exact minister who has the answer!! We receive many different prayer requests, but there is a common thread that is always prevalent. People want to know how to hear from God and how to do His will. We need to see who is Jesus and who is God and we find that out by hearing His voice.
I was praying one day on how to encourage people so that they can the Word themselves. That is when I was received this Word: TEACH THEM WHAT I HAVE TAUGHT YOU. So the result of that Word from God is this conference. Actually it is a series of conferences, and the Holy Spirit will let me know how many, so mark your calendar for next month: June 2013 for part two.
After I received the word to have this conference my next question was WHEN AND WHERE.
He said do it in the summer when the world says it is the worst time: you are not of this world and those who I have called to come to this conference are not of this world.
He then said have it in the center of the city, in a secular place. Bring the word; saturate the area with the Spirit of God. Change Chicago from the inside out. When you leave: the anointing will remain and affect all the board of directors meetings and think tanks that meet here in this place: thus changing and influencing their decisions. We are putting God back into big business, by honoring the Word.
I received favor when God led me to this place. I had never even heard of it! I walked in and thought: this is like heaven: colorful and full of life, no grays and conventional beige. Then I received favor for the price and I knew God was in this. I just kept listening, hearing and doing which is what this conference is all about.
I had not announced the conference when one Sunday I was in church. I prepared my tithes and offerings before coming as I always do. But this particular Sunday the Holy Spirit told me to sow for the conference. My answer, well I was going to sow next Sunday all I have is $10 extra cash on me. He said sow, I felt silly sowing just $10, but I obeyed. The same Sunday, the same time, a woman in St. Louis received a message from the Holy Spirit. He reminded her that she had forgotten to tithe on a particular income. He told her specifically to sow into my ministry.
She did not know about the conference, but she obeyed: She sent me $1,000 which is 100 fold from that $10.00.
This paid for the conference BEFORE it was even held!!
What do you think would have happened had I not listened to the voice of God and held that $10.00? Who knows? I have trained myself to always obey even when it seems silly. So as you listen to this message, listen, hear, and obey. It sounds simple but it requires a different way of thinking.
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The ear is the first organ that develops in a fetus. Our sense of hearing at birth is as strong as it will ever be. The nerves from the ear are connected to each other organ in the body. So when you hear the word, it is life, Zoë and it bathes each organ. This is why we must continue to hear the word: It brings life and life more abundantly. It counter acts the decay, destruction and death of this world. Who is the God of the Bible? Let’s dig even deeper.
Matthew 11:15
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
We have two types of ears, natural ears and spiritual ears, as you listen to this message with your natural ears, also use your spiritual ears, there is revelation here that is just for you. Listen between the words: the Holy Spirit will be speaking to you as I speak out the Word of God, take notes; this is the night to receive. If you have ears to hear: the spirit will let you hear.
NOW HOW DO WE ACTUALLY HEAR HIS VOICE?
The first thing we must do is to listen for God. How do we listen?
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God:
Be still: In this area that even the most seasoned Christian struggles. In this day of fast food, fast internet fast, fast, we seldom like to wait.
I have heard people pray like this! God it is me, bless my husband, my children, my family, and friends. Heal everyone, bless everyone, and send me all the money I need, give me a new house and a new car: blah, blah……….Amen
Then they say: I never hear from God. I ask them if they even take a breath when they pray.
Prayer is a conversation, a give and take experience. You talk to God and He talks to you. Now I ask you: What does God hear when you pray? God will speak, if you let him, God will speak, but do you know his voice? Do you know how to recognize it? To learn to hear the voice of God after you are still and listening you have to know what his voice sounds like.
The bible gives us some descriptions of how he sounds.
As you listen to these descriptions, you will realize that in the Biblical Times hearing God seemed much easier. We know that all scripture is the inspired Word of God, so are we listening in the wrong way? Have we just tuned him out with our technology? Or worse have we just forgotten what He sounds like and how powerful He really is?
Have we diluted HIS word by expecting it to sound the way we desire? So how do we talk with God and how do we hear his voice? Let’s look at more Bible verses:
Deuteronomy 4:12
Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice.
Job 4:16
It stopped, but I could not tell what it was. A form stood before my eyes, and I heard a hushed voice:
Job 37:2
Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
Imagine how powerful you would feel if you heard this!!! A roar!
Job 37:5
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.
Psalm 29:3
The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters
Scientists tell us that during a thunder and lightning storm we feel excited and children run around in delight because the lightening releases nitrogen from the soil. Could it be they are excited because they remember HIS voice?
Psalm 29:4
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.
Psalm 29:8
The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
Psalm 29:9
The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
For the students of prophesy: looking at what is happening in the Middle East: these next scriptures take on an interesting concept.
Psalm 46:6
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

Isaiah 30:31 The voice of the LORD will shatter Assyria; with his scepter he will strike them down.
Psalm 29:5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
Daniel 10:6
His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
Hebrews 12:26
At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
Yes my brothers and sisters: He is always in control…
Revelation 1:10
On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.
Revelation 1:15
His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
When you are by the ocean, or a large waterfall: You feel so insignificant, yet so a part of it all. You feel small yet powerful at the same time………That is God. Have we just forgotten HIS voice?
Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
I wanted you to feel HIS power in these verses. Why do we limit him to just hearing the still small voice?

What the Bible tells us is that you can hear God in many different ways. You can hear as you hear the word is preached, you can hear when you read your bible, you can hear thru relatives, people you know and even those that you don’t know. You can hear it thru Prophets, You can hear it thru dreams and visions and you can hear it right now. Remember God spoke thru a burning bush, thru his prophets, thru his angels and even thru a donkey.
You just have to know His voice. And what it sounds like. Don’t be confused: God does not always speak like thunder. There is not a fanfare announcing: THIS IS GOD, NOW LISTEN. I want to share an example of a woman who heard God’s voice for the 1st time. She had wanted to hear from God for years, yet never felt that she was able to actually hear his voice or direction in her life. She was desperate to hear and to get the Holy Spirit.
I would like to share a very interesting story, you may be able to see yourself in it, and I surely did. We will call her Linda and him Sam. Linda and Sam had a difficult marriage that ended in a hostile divorce. It was a love/hate relationship. They could not stand each other, yet they could not live apart. Divorced and living in separate houses they still depended upon one another. She always used him to repair things around the house and with her car and then he used her as emotional support.

The love/hate continued year after year, never actually separating yet never getting back together. Finally he found a girlfriend and Linda knew about it. She tried to stay calm, and understanding on the outside: yet inside she was seething. She would find excuses to drive by their house and just “drop in”. During this time, she grew stronger in her walk with the Lord. Slowly she became more and more in love with Jesus. Linda wanted to change the way her life was going, so she did a stunning thing. She just happened to drop by Sam’s house when she knew they would both be there. She picked up her Bible and walked into the bedroom where the girlfriend was resting and Linda witnessed about Jesus to her. Now not only was the girlfriend shocked, but so was Sam. Linda was kind and gracious, but Sam in his anger called the police.

To avoid a scene: Linda just left. She went home and began to boil. The longer she fretted the madder that she got. After all she was trying to do the right thing and Sam just got mad once again and called the police. She worked herself into a rage, throwing things around and screaming all by herself. She did exactly what she said she would never do again! She let his bad behavior affect her. She just seemed unable to stop this tantrum. She forgot about the church, about her new good behavior and about Jesus.

Several hours went by and she just was winding up herself more and more. Finally she just screamed out loud: I AM JUST GOING BACK THERE AND STRAIGHTEN THEM BOTH OUT!!! I am the good one in this situation and they are both wrong and living against God. She took a quick shower, washed her hair and prepared to go back to Sam’s. She was going to show them once again how wonderful she was and how awful they were! She quickly dressed, and then bent over to put on her socks. For the first time in her life she heard the Holy Spirit whisper to her.

He said: Why are you putting on your socks?

She said because I am going to go over to Sam’s and cause a scene, I have just had it with them!

Then it happened, the glory of God fell on her and she began to laugh. She laughed until she cried. She had believed to hear from the Holy Spirit for years. She expected it to be some holy, reverent message but he said:

Why are you putting on your socks?

She lay down on her bed and the glory of God covered her, she drifted off to a peaceful sleep for the first time in many years. God spoke to her during the dream, and told her to trust Him, seek him and everything will work out just fine. It is amazing the things we hear from the Holy Spirit, we expect Elizabethan English and something profound, but he leads us into all truths.

John 16:13
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

The truth for Linda was that she needed to break this cycle of love/hate and anger with her former husband. The Holy Spirit speaks in a language that is easy for us to understand; he does not only speak English. He speaks in all languages. He speaks in Japanese, Russian, and English etc. He also speaks in slang or what ever language that you need to hear.

Linda needed to hear: why are you putting on your socks!
That was the exact expression that she needed to hear, it snapped her back into the reality of the absurd and dangerous path she had been on. The Holy Spirit knows all things and exactly what to say to each one of us at all times. We just have to be prepared to listen.

Many times when we hear from the Holy Spirit we think we know exactly what he is going to say. When it is something that we don’t expect or agree with, we just discard it as not being from God. We try to judge what God has in store for us by own standards, but we fall very short.

1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Linda later told me that she wanted God to punish Sam and his girlfriend, she wanted revenge but the Holy Spirit just made her laugh and to see how silly she was acting. We need to understand that God has our best interest at hand.

He knows where we are going and how we are to get there. Only our personal agenda will interrupt His plan for us. Since we have free will, God will allow us to go against His will, even if we are on the road to destruction. Free will is the gift God has given us, Free will is the barometer in which we measure love. For example, if we take someone, and lock them up in a room and tell them that they must love us, Is that love? On the converse if we allow them total free will and they come to us and tell us that they love us: freedom like that is love. That is why God gives us free will, so that we can make the right choice.

Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

As we choose life, we leave behind the sentence of death, just as the Holy Spirit convicted Linda of her erratic behavior, he was showing her that way was the way that left to death. Now she was not going actually kill her ex-husband, but she was killing her future because she was locked in this destructive relationship. Because of this destructive relationship, Linda could not go ahead with her life, and the plans that God had already designed for her.

When we expect certain things to happen in our lives, we often lay out the procedure in which it should happen. God delights in surprising us. Oh yes the results are the same as what we had prayed for, but the way it evolves is always something we would never think of. I think God does this to show us that He is in charge, not us. Linda did not really want her husband punished, she still loved him, but her previous life experience was to execute revenge whenever you were mistreated.

Hebrews 10:30
For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.”

When we are faced with situations in which we were wronged, we want to strike out and demand some sort of restitution. What did Linda really want? She wanted her husband back. She began to realize that God would not violate Sam’s free will, even if he had done the wrong thing.

That night when the Holy Spirit came on Linda, clarity began to come, wisdom began to replace vengeance. And peace replaced rage. The more she began to trust in God and less she depended on her own ability to resolve issues the more confident she became in who she was. In her new found Identity as a true daughter of God, a child of the King showed her that she did not have to do anything about the situation. If they were to be together, God would bring them back together, and if they were to stay apart, God would sustain her.
Linda now evangelizes with the same passion that she used in her anger toward Sam, is her life perfect? Not yet, but she is growing daily as each of us grow daily.

Philippians 3:14
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

GOD IS A PEACEMAKER-he speaks in a language that we all understand. He does not speak in Elizabethan English, Aramaic or eve Hebrew to us. Oh He can speak in any language, and dialect, accent or even in slang. He speaks the language that we know and understand. He speaks differently to each of us. Read the word, meditate in the word, and find out who God is. Learn the language of God; learn his character then you will be able to recognize his Voice…
You see He did not want her fighting; he wanted her to be under His glory, so He spoke the language that she would understand at that moment. He took a simple action of putting on socks to show her how silly her reaction was and then He covered her with His peace and glory.
GOD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR
One day I was praying for a lady who had severe pain in her feet. Toward the end of the prayer we were both very intense and serious. The Holy Spirit said in this matter you will not suffer defeat: then He said da’feet. I looked at her; she looked at me and said da’feet? And we both laughed and laughed and her feet were immediately healed.
Once His word is established, it never changes……..

STORY OF MOM: DINNER
When my mom would call my brother and myself for dinner: we would run!
Each time all she had to say was dinner and we knew what it meant. She did not have to tell us the whole scenario each time. Now we knew her voice and her character, do you suppose if she didn’t say dinner, but just said din, we would respond? Of course! We knew not only her voice, but her character and what she expected of us. By studying the word and learning His voice and character, soon we will be able to say: We know his voice and the voice of a stranger we will not follow.
HOW DO WE RECOGNIZE HIS VOICE AND WEED OUT THE VOICE OF THE STRANGER?
We hear many voices, but there three main ones:
The Thief–which comes to steal, kill and destroy
The Flesh—which is me, me, the selfish one
Jesus–The Rewarder-the one who brings life and life more abundantly

Genesis 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
The enemy speaks, and knows scripture and the world pulls on us and our own ego often tries to influence what we hear and believe. The enemy sends the fiery darts: He is the accuser. Did he put the fruit into Eve’s mouth? Did he crunch her mouth shut? No her flesh sought her own pleasure AFTER the suggestion from the enemy of God.
He is the thief, and he is sneaky and subtle. He does not have the ability to force us to do anything, but it is the suggestion, the subtleties that is how he gets his way. Here is a great example of how his voice tries to snatch us from our faith in God.
Your house is in foreclosure. You are desperate for money. You are seeking God and you hear this voice: GO ROB A BANK. Well you say this is not God, I won’t do that! But the seed is planted. The next day you read an article that says: only 1 out of 20 bank robbers are never caught and prosecuted. Then your neighbor tells you that he just saw something on the news about your loan officer, he was indicted for mishandling of loans. Now the enemy sneaks in another dart: You were cheated by this guy and he has your money and you were losing your house because of him.
You get together with some friends and you all talk about how you have been cheated and it is not fair: that is your house: you deserve it!
On and on……….soon you hear about a gun for sale cheap. Oh that enemy he is sly.
From saying No to robbing a bank to buying a gun…….it happens slowly, underhandedly and you are soon convinced you are doing the right thing: after all God wants you happy. Just like back in the garden……….that voice the father of lies has perverted the situation and you lose.
The one voice that we hear most often is our own: it is our flesh and worldly desire that tries to convince us that it is God speaking to us.
EXAMPLE: Let’s say a woman sees a beautiful red dress! She really wants it and in her prayer time she tells God that she wants it, and then her own voice responds and says: Yes you deserve it, yes you can spend money you don’t have to buy it, yes, and yes it is yours. Now is that God? The Bible tells us that Gods answers are always yes and Amen, but was it God? Let’s go to the Word:
Matthew 6:8
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Matthew 6:28
28And why take ye thought for raiment?
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
What things will be added: the things that you have asked for. Seeking him and not things: that is the answer. Seek Him, know Him and forget about the things of this world: He knows what you need and He will provide. When you focus on what God has already provided: your walk will be limited to the natural.
If all you seek is money and clothing and things: that is exactly what you will get. Your own voice wants these things, your flesh your ego, your desire to impress men. Oh yes God may give these things to you, but is that what he is really saying to you?
REMEMBER: He saying:
Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
If he gives us the uttermost parts of the earth, do you think that he would send you without provision, without that red dress? When we ask for what is in line with the covenant we will see that it is larger than our small, selfish, carnal minds. When you seek only the things of the world that is what you will have. When you seek nations for Jesus: You will have everything that lays in-between your desire and the manifestation. It is like when you drive a car. If you only look at what 5 feet in front of you, you cannot see possible danger ahead and you also cannot see the beauty of what lies ahead. But when you look down the road at the whole picture, you see everything, even the 5 feet in front of your car.
PRAY: I DECREE AND DECLARE FROM THIS DAY FORWARD EACH PERSON HEARING THIS WORD, LIFTS THEIR EYES TO WHAT LIES AHEAD, TRUSTING THAT EVERYTHING THAT LIES INBETWEEN HAS BEEN PREPARED AND WAITING FOR THEM. IN JESUS NAME.
He has told us, not suggested but commanded us in these following scriptures:
Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
That refers to you city, nation and entire world. And he has already given it to us!
FOLKS THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS COME UPON YOU, YOU HAVE THE POWER: ARE YOU USING IT?
But you say: that can’t be for me, all I want is that red dress. This is to much for me, but God is talking to you, you are just listening to the voice of the flesh. When he sends us to take nations, he equips us and cloths us.
He goes with us.
Do we study those wrong voices to know the difference?
ABSOLUTLY NOT, The devil has been defeated and his words are of no power, out own flesh is corrupt so then we study the one true word and it will become so strong and valid in us, we immediately recognize the fraud.
SECRET SERVICE men only study correct bills, so then when they see a counterfeit, they know the difference immediately.
Anything that is selfish, or hurts other, or is based on greed and self importance is not God no matter how hard you try to convince yourself that God wants you to have that thing.
When you are a child and you get lost in a crowd, you tune out all of the voices, and listen eagerly for the voice of your parent. Even of the voice of a stranger tries to entice you, you ignore it and you only listen for the voice of you parent that leads you to safety. That is the same as with hearing from God: you listen for His voice and tune out everything else: Then you recognizes his voice, then you run to him for safety, comfort and instructions.
Recognizing his voice is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets. Practice hearing from God in every event and soon hearing His voice gets simpler and simpler.Does that mean that we never make a mistake? When you are seeking after God, and happen to respond to the wrong voice, don’t worry: God can fix it. Just trust 100 percent in his word. He knows your heart.
His grace will cover any mistake we make.
When we try to hard on our own and the law is telling us to DO, DO but His Grace says DONE, DONE.
1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice.
