It Could Have Been Different

It could have been different. On that day I could’ve turned right instead of left, I could’ve been killed in a car accident. It could have been different. I could have finished college as a lawyer, I could become a veterinarian It could’ve been different. I could’ve stayed on the path of the world. It could’ve been different. But he loved me enough to protect and wait for me to return to Him which was my first love. Oh it would have been different without HIM. Have you ever loved someone with all your heart and all your soul so much that every time you saw them you didn’t think you could even survive without them? Have you even said with your own lips I would just die to have them or I would just die without them? How did you feel when that object of your love rejected you? We all know it hurts. Well that’s what we do every day to Jesus when we reject Him. C.S. LEWISTHE SON OF GOD WENT TO THE CROSS SO THAT MEN COULD BECOME SONS OF GOD. You may say to me I don’t reject him I Received him as my savior.

Luke 6:46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Each one of us has always had the choice on which way in life we can go:  you could be home, at play but you’re all here today listening to the word of God. It could have been different. You can’t grow and stay in the same place at the same time. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead, anthropologist. That is us:  we are a small group of committed Christians who happen to be citizens. HOW DO WE CHANGE THE WORLD? We are to show others to make the same correct choice of choosing Jesus as their savior.    So they wouldn’t be thinking “it could’ve been different.  IT WILL BE DIFFERENT.

First we must know that we are worthy. Yes Justified to speak in His name. Some of us have doubts about our salvation, we know things we have done in secret, and we know things that we have never repented for. We know that in fact we are not worthy. Our flesh has betrayed us. The Apostle Paul said: The things I don’t want to do I do, and the things I want to do I don’t do. Was the Apostle Paul justified by ALL of HIS works? If so we know he would spend eternity in hell. How was he justified when he had been the “chief” among sinners? Could he have been worse than you?  We know how God used Paul; how you think he can use you? This word Justification has been used in many ways in our society. Most often it is used in the legal realm where someone was justified, even when it seemed wrong to do something. It was Justified Homicide.

Definition of Justification:

To show satisfactory reason or excuse for something done: declare innocent for something done.

So how are we justified by Jesus? We have all heard the expression when we were in fear or close to death that:  my life just flashed before my eyes. We also know there is a life review when we stand before Jesus and he rewards us for our good works. We are now in the technological age so we are going to think about videos rather than books.

YOUR LIFE VIDEO

Lets just for a moment think of a video of your life, the whole thing with highlights of good and bad. Let’s say you sit down with God today, right now and He watched the video of your life. Maybe you wouldn’t see your whole life, maybe just the last 24 hours. What would He see? You stealing something, even like time from your job?

Would he see you killing someone with gossip? Would he see you destroying the plans he has for you? Isn’t that what the enemy does? STEAL, KILL and DESTROY. So who then is really your father?

John 8:44 – Living Bible (TLB)

44 For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth—there is not an iota of truth in him. When he lies, it is perfectly normal; for he is the father of liars.

Then we say:  I didn’t mean it, I am so sorry, I wasn’t thinking, but In fact we are thinking like the enemy of God, because we are all born into sin. And the wages of sin is death. So we sit before our heavenly father, And He sees that in fact we were Honoring the father of death by following His commandments To steal, kill and destroy. This is a terrifying place to be in. You wonder, is it too late? I am a sinner, and headed to Hell, and just think:  It could have been different.

JESUS WALKS IN

At that moment when you realized how you have failed, Jesus walks in. He is carrying a video of His life. So let’s look at the same scenario but instead of watching a video of your life you watch a video of Jesus Life. It begins as He spoke the world into existence, how beautiful, how powerful. He did it with just a word.

John 1:1-4

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God, all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was not made by Him.

He made the earth perfect, dividing the land and the sea. He called forth the fish the animals and all the seed bearing herbs. It seems there was a smile on his face as He did this. Then in His final act of love, once everything was ready and prepared: He created man in His image. Oh how he loved all that He created. When HE breathed the breath of life into Adam, then Adam became a speaking spirit. The next scene in the video shows Him walking with Adam in the cool of the day; peace and love surrounded the walking Word. What a beautiful video you are thinking, no hate, no murder, no sin

BUT WAIT:

There it is:  the same sin that grabs on to you, there it is hiding in the garden.  Watch out Eve you say (we all talk to the TV, don’t we?), no, no:  don’t listen to him, you will end up like me…….watching the video of my life with God the Father, trying to show him how good we are YET we are actually following the Father of lies. Oh I can’t look….is she listening?  Did she do what He said? Did she eat the fruit?  Now I really want to know how this story ends. I am watching the whole video!

WHISPERER

On a side note, when you have fruit in your life, given to you by God, like he gave to Adam and Eve, does it get eaten up by the whispers of the enemy of God? Do the whispers, say buy you deserve it (and you put it on a credit card and pay the world interest), does the whisper say: just sleep in, don’t bother with work, you deserved the rest. Does the whisper say, forget that preacher, all he wants is your money! Does the whisper say:  no one will know anyway? Do you also eat all of your fruit because of the temptation of the enemy? God gives, the enemy takes! Now back to the video, let’s get some popcorn and enjoy. Poor Adam and Eve, kicked out because of the whisper of the enemy, just like me:  I heard spend your money on the lottery, parties and fun: don’t worry about rent…….and I got kicked out! Now the scene changes, everyone seems to be sad, under a lot of rules and oppression:  they call it the LAW. I cried when I saw a innocent old man carrying some fire wood to his home because it was so cold and he was whipped unmercifully by the Pharisees because it was the Sabbath. This video of Jesus life is showing me many things, but I am wondering how it will actually have any effect on the video of my life.

OH HOW I WISH IT COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT.

The next scene shows Jesus healing the blind, feeding the hungry and delivering the demon possessed.  Yeah……he is a hero for sure.

Wow, I want to be just like him, but OH NO, I can’t I thought as my mind went back to the video of my life.  Too much baggage, to much sin. Well anyway:  Yeah for Jesus. There He is entering into Jerusalem on a donkey, they are laying Palm leaves at His feet…it was beautiful:  everything was perfect. Then we see him arrested because of the whisper of the enemy into the ears of the Pharisees leaders. Guilty, crucify Him they shouted in unison. Now He could have called 12 legions of angels, but he said nothing. He went to the cross with joy in his heart, He did it all for me and you. He went to the cross to take our sin, sickness and disease. He gives love and encouragement. He brings life. He gives eternal salvation. The video ends as He said:  it is FINISHED. I was speechless, so sad, so regretful about my life and then

Jesus spoke: Don’t you remember on that day I was on the cross; I took the sins of your life and gave you the perfection of my life.

CHANGE THE COVER ON THE VIDEO

And with that He changed the cover WITH THE NAME of each video.

His video now had my NAME on it!  All of my mistakes, all of my sin are no longer mine he took them all to the cross. My video had HIS name on It now is as if I was as perfect as he Is.

YOUR OLD LIFE DIED ON THE CROSS WITH HIM

At that point the video of your old life died. You died you have a new life in him. That old video no longer exists. Now as you sit with the Father, you proudly show him the video of your life, your whole life and when He looks at it He sees Jesus.

EVERYTIME GOD WATCHES

Now every time God watches the video of your life, he sees everything about Jesus. You are now justified because of what Jesus did on the cross for you. So now we know we are good enough, how do we change the world for Jesus?

Mark 16:15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Jesus desires that everyone be saved. That includes ALL, the backslider, the atheist, the Muslim, the gang banger, the Buddhist, and the Satanist. All means all. When God says ALL, he means it! When man says All, since we exaggerate, often we mean most.

 HOW WILL THIS HAPPEN?

Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He did not say that only He would, He was addressing you! Because the body of Christ is worldwide, we do not always have to go to other countries, so what are some things we can do right in our own neighborhood.

GO TO THEM

Be creative, listen to the Holy Spirit. You can minister in the most diverse ways to reach the lost! You may frequent:  go, go to where they are. Go, the people did not come to the apostles. The apostles went to the people, they reached out. They did not sit in one place and wait for the people to come to them.  THEY DID WHAT JESUS SAID: THEY WENT. You can only fail by not trying. You can go to the next room, you can go to your phone, Internet, you can go to the person that lives across the hall., You can go to your family…Remember the Video of Jesus:  that is what they will see and hear, when you are walking with Him, never forget, it is not about you.

If you are enjoying this teaching, please listen to the hour long Mp3 that is included with this newsletter. God bless you in all that you do.
