As our Christian walk gets stronger we realize that there are promises that God has given us. As we discover our Identity in Christ Jesus, we begin declaring things that belong to us.
Job 22:28
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
A decree is a rule of law issued by a head of state (such as the president of a republic), according to certain procedures (usually established in a constitution). It has the force of law.
When you decree a thing, and it is in line with the promises of god, it must, it must come to pass. So how do we decree a thing and have faith that it will manifest?
Let me share a short, simple story that recently happened to me.
I was looking at a empty church building that I wanted for our ministry. I had prayed about it, sown money for, and just stood on the word that it was mine.
One beautiful crisp fall day I was driving to church about 7:00 am. I was thanking God for this building. I was telling him of all the lives that would be changed because of it. I was happy and joyous, believing that building was finally mine. I was trusting God and quoting this scripture over and over. I was trusting God to provide that building and it that it would be paid for in full. I was excited and sure of the victory. I knew that this was in line with the promise that he had given to me, but I was wondering just how he would do this.
As I was driving on my favorite path to church I said aloud: I am going to stop and get a Latte this morning. Not very spiritual you say, but I just said it as fact, no prayer, I just boldly said it. I knew I had enough money, and I knew that there was a coffee shop just ahead.
I a parked my car and walked across the street, there on the ground laid $4.00, the exact cost of a latte. I was delighted as I picked it up, I thanked god for providing for me once again.
Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Back in my car I continued on my way to church. This path took me past the building that I had been praying for. OH NO, there was a sold sign on it, someone else had purchased it.
I was shocked and yes somewhat hurt. I went to the father and asked Him, am I only worth $4 to you? Are my prayers worthless? I was believing for a million dollar building and you gave me a $4 latte? Boy was I feeling sorry for myself, and frustrated because I did not understand how I had failed.
After I had vented I asked God to explain this to me. He pointed me to my faith level. He said, you get Latte’s all the time, you know what they cost and you had the money on you. You stated (decreed) that you would get one. You trusted that you had all the ingredients to get what you desired. I send you the $4 to show you that when you were in unshakable faith, and decree a thing: you shall have it and I will provide.
With the building, you went thru the motions, said with your mouth, but since you did not have the $ you were concerned if I would truly supply it You told no one, just in case it did not manifest. You were actually in doubt, regardless of what you were saying.
James 1:7-9 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
You see, I wanted this building, but deep in my heart I was not sure God would provide: and because of my doubt: He did not provide. Was that because God did not have the money?: no was it because he did not want me to have the desires of my heart: no
It was because my faith was weak.

Now I want to raise you higher He said. I had to raise my faith from a $4.00 latte to a million dollar facility.
Matthew 18:3
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
As I meditated on this scripture I began to remember what it was like to be a little child. How I was so sure of things, I had no doubt my hopes would come true. When an adult would say: No you cannot do this or that I would say uh uha. As the years have rolled by, the world slowly chipped away that confidence. Why are we so confident as children? I cannot prove it, but I believe it is because that we have just recently left the presence of God where all things were possible. We knew when we said a thing it would be so as long as it lined up with the Word of God.
I want to be like that once again! I want to believe the word first and my circumstances 2nd. I wonder how I got so turned around? I know that the enemy is sly and works on us a little here and a little there until he chips away the truth of the Word of God.
Now this was serious for me, I am a minister after all. How did I slip out of faith? I was saying it with my mouth that I had that building, but deep somewhere in my heart I did not actually believe it.. was it because I felt unworthy for anything bigger than a latte?
As I spent more time meditating the word I began to see that nothing was to big for God. To provide $4.00 or $4 million was the same for Him. He owned it all anyway. It was up to me, to increase my faith
Luke 17 5And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

Now the bible tells us

Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
So if we all have a measure of faith, how can we increase it? What actually is a measure of faith? Since we are all given a measure of faith, the only thing that it could be is the Word of God. We are all given the same Word, it is how we use it that will increase our faith.
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You can hear the word thru your pastor thru tapes, cds or dvds. The most effective way for me has been to not only use all of the above, but to read the bible out loud. In this reading, I am reading and hearing at the same time.

In the quest to increase my faith I studied the covenant, how that in covenant what God has is ours and what we have is Gods. This helped me to realize that in fact I was entitled to receive the promise. I was not entitled because of who I was, but I am entitled because of who Jesus is. We know that Jesus is the creator of everything, he is the Word, thru him we are entitled.

Now my faith is increased and I am ready for our new building. As I drive to church I still pass the building that I had previously desired. It has been converted from a church building to an upscale gym. I pray for the success of the business and for the people who now possess the building. I knew that the facility was blessed because I blessed it and prayed for it: so the new owners have a guaranteed success.

Each time I pass the coffee shop, I remember declaring: I am going to get a latte and then God’s gift to me. As I search for a new church building, this time when I find it, I will have no doubt, no fear of inadequacy, no fear that god will not provide. As this building waits to be found, my faith is increasing daily. I exercise it like a muscle in all areas and am excited by the results.

Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

I need a church building, and God will supply it! I decree this in the name of Jesus. When this building manifests, I will decree it as mine and God will give me the provision and favor to obtain it!!

We need to remember that

Job 22:28
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Be vigilant, watch for signs, God sends them all the time, discern the messages and remember that: I have stepped over into kingdom living all because of a $4.00 latte.
