As we go thru the travels thru life, we face many trials and seemingly hopeless situations. We know that we are to refer to the Bible in all situations. It is our roadmap our life instructions yet sometimes we forget and our feet almost slip from the path that God has set before us.
The enemy tries to convince us that we are participating in the “slippery slope” syndrome. He tells us that if we lean a little to one side or the other, we will slip down, but that is a lie, we are to always lean to the side of God and He will hold us up and keep us from slipping. There are no “slippery slopes in the Kingdom.
The enemy wants us tepid, lukewarm, just keeping our heads down and not making waves and so afraid of “slipping, we never step out on anything, in fact we don’t even step out on the WORD!
Revelation 3:16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Jesus is telling us to take a stand, no more hiding where it is safe we have to step out and lay it all on the line boldly. He would rather see us out there, falling on our face than quivering on the apex of that “slippery slope”. If we are out there and we fail, He will just pick us up, dust us off and set us on the correct path.
Now in May I was faced with such a choice. It is amazing how God always, always honors His Word! It is us who become lukewarm, tepid and weak. We just forget the power of this tool that is available to us 24/7. This tool, this architect of our future is the WORD, the WORD of God. We are not only to pray the Word when things are good, and when they are bad, but we are to pray at all times for all things. In 2006 God supernaturally gave me a business free of charge!
That blessing was activated by the sowing a precious seed. Now the purpose of this gift was for my son. I was waiting for my son to become financially secure so that I could pursue full time ministry. God blessed this business and it developed quickly and became very financially prosperous.
Now even though my son is grown, he has battled drug addiction since he was around 14 years old. This business was going to be the catalyst to get him back main stream.
Previously he was unable to do much other than take drugs, so working for someone else just was not feasible. Drugs take all motivation and desire from people and years just roll into decades. Now he was approaching 40 with no job, no motivation no nothing. Now I have never believed in tough love, I believe in the Love of Jesus!
I never encouraged his drug use, but I also never turned him away. I was his only refuge. Finally after many years and thousands of dollars, I just turned him over to Jesus. There was No immediate miracle but slowly and surely he started doing fewer and fewer drugs. I prayed daily for him as he lived in my home. One day he woke up and said: I am done giving the drug dealers all of my money and I want to regain my career! Praise God.
Now since he was a teen-ager he has also been a Professional Dog Groomer, He was one of the best when he could work. Being responsible to show up for work was his main problems, but actually doing the work, he was excellent. Once God gave me this new dog grooming shop, my son took interest. He was finally drug free and growing in his faith! God always honors our prayers, especially the heart felt prayers of a desperate mom.
Things were going great, we were working together and my son was prospering. I began taking a day off here and there, and the money still came in properly. You had probably guessed that money was often missing during the drug days! Now these days, the money is always accounted for. I began taking off 1 or 2 days a week, with my eyes on the day when I could be serving God full time. Confidence and pride continued to grow where my son was concerned. It was wonderful to finally get to know him, because during the years on drugs, my son’s personality was stunted. Now I finally had my son back! He was growing and becoming the man that I had been praying for.
Now my granddaughter who lived in Alabama was going to graduate from High School, and I decided I would go and leave my son in charge of the shop for the first time. I was excited, he was excited. The night before I left he told me how that he was so glad he was living right and that not doing drugs and staying away from his former friends. He said it had surely made him a better man! This was a big thing for my son to say.
Wow, it was finally going to happen, I was going to get into full time ministry and my son would be on his own. God is good. The flight to Alabama was uneventful. I was so excited about my future and about his future that I was walking 6 inches off of the ground. Now my son was in charge (finally). I was free…….I woke up that morning of the graduation happy and carefree.
7:15 AM-the phone rang, it was my son and he was crying desperately. It seems that when he left home to go to the store, there were 2 undercover detectives at our door and they arrested him for something from 10 years ago in Ohio.
First fear gripped me, his future slipped from before my eyes, then the thoughts of my full time ministry slipping away, and on top of it all: there was no one at the shop. I almost wanted to panic and fly back home.
But then I caught myself, I went into Spiritual Warfare with prayer. I was ready!
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
My son was still on the phone, we had just 3 minutes to talk and he was facing 2 years in prison.
I remembered this scripture.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
I knew right then and there that this prayer would be answered.
Hebrews 4:16 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
So then I went boldly before the throne of grace.
My prayer was short and simple, but bold.
Father in the Name of Jesus, I come before you as a daughter. Your word says we are to come boldly before the throne of grace. A weapon has been formed against us and your word says that
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Psalm 102:13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
These tongues are lying against us Father. Father, I don’t know whether or not he has done this crime, but I ask for mercy which none of us deserve, but YOU have given us the right because we are your children. I know that you are a debt cancelling God, cancel this debt. For this we give you all the praise, honor and glory in Jesus name Amen.
I told my son to hold on to this word no matter what happens.
Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
I was at peace, I knew it was done. My family and I went out for lunch and I just stayed fixed on the faithfulness of God.
10:00 am. My son called once again, and said: “Mom you won’t believe this: The district attorney came in to sign the extradition papers back to Ohio and when he went to the computer: there was no record any more. The District Attorney then apologized for the City of Chicago and the Police Department. He also assured Ed that he would personally see that this never happened again.
THE DEBT WAS CANCELLED.
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
God’s Mercy SAID No….punishment
God’s Grace SAID …No weapon will prosper
God’s Favor SAID….Yes your debt was cancelled.
IN Jesus name: Amen
