Your Destiny – Part 1 of 4

What is destiny? We all talk about it all the time: but let’s take a closer look at

THE DEFINITION OF DESTINY is something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; The predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events. Is your destiny irresistible: is it so compelling that you MUST, MUST do it?

Ephesians 2:10 amp
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Folks, it is ready and waiting JUST FOR YOU. No one else can fulfill your destiny but YOU. I can’t fulfill yours and you can’t fulfill mine! It is uniquely designed for each of us INDIVIDUALLY.

Over the years, many people have come for prayer, either in person, or by phone or e-mail. They are worried about money, relationships and their future. But the main question I often get asked: what is my destiny, what does God want me to do? When I turn the question around and ask: well, what ARE you doing for God? I will often get the response: Praying.
Well that’s good but then I will then ask: how long have you been praying: and the answer can go from days to years to decades. Is that what God truly wants? Waiting for decades? Vegetating in sorrow, not fulfilled, aching to do what you know you should do?
I think not! That is not Gods best for you. Of course there is God’s time, but remember we are in the last days: and His timing is NOW.

When we live under the law of the Old Testament, we find that there are expectations put on us. We need to work, and work hard, just one day off (or we feel like we are slacking off). Marry young, have many children, have more grandchildren: build a lineage for Israel. A lineage designed for one thing only: the entrance of the Messiah.

The molds were very defined, the actions were controlled. No choice, no free will: only the LAW.

The law said over and over: you must, you must…
You must be righteous, you must sacrifice, you must follow the 10 commandments and if not you were punished, even killed if you broke some of the laws.

If you really want to appreciate our savior: just read Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy let alone the 10 Commandments. Who could keep all of the laws? Who even knew them all? Thank God for Grace that was given to us by our savior: JESUS. Their destiny was written in the law, no freedom, no growth. You were born into a tribe, your destiny sealed.

If you wanted to be a priest and were born into the wrong tribe: there was no opportunity to “advance” or be in a position of honoring God as a priest. The law made everyone in a cookie cutter version. You were to become what the law said you MUST BE. God told us to take dominion and not to be restricted by the law. The Law restrains—-Grace Releases!!

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

You see there were days before the law. Days in the Garden, Days of Abraham, Days of Noah, Days Joseph and on and on.

Do you see their freedom; do you see the desire to serve God and to please Him?

Then the law came and everything became restricted and in a robotic form. People were labeled and fixed into a lifestyle from birth. Marriages were arranged and controlled and behavior was very restricted.

Nothing that they could say would matter. You see you cannot be free just by saying the word free. It requires someone to set you free.
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Now am I saying God was wrong in giving the Law? Absolutely not, society had totally collapsed, pagan worship, immoral behavior was all a slap in the face to God.

He created the people, yet they sought other gods to worship. It would be like your child moving out and living with different parents, loving them and forgetting their natural parents.

God is our FATHER. He will never leave us or forsake us: can’t His children do the same. People needed a “check”. Without this check, there would be no need of a savior. No need to be free from the law of sin and death.

Imagine living under the law of sin and death forever? No eternal life? No Jesus, No heaven, No God: only DEATH and HELL.

Because our savior Jesus came we are now free from the law and we are promised eternal lives. Eternal lives of living in Grace. Not law.

Thru grace we find no coincidences in life, they are all opportunities: directed by the Holy Spirit. Even at this meeting: you may meet someone, hear a word that will change your life forever. Expect opportunities every day.

When you recognize this, you will never again fear to go forth, you see you can never die, you see the plans that God has for your life:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

What you think on expands your life and destiny.

Psalm 23:7
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

So in this teaching: we are going to think like God, not like man. We will look at our assignment like he sees the assignment. NO risk, NO fear, NO failure: with the Holy Spirit encouraging us and Our Shepherd, Jesus leading us.

Look at your life as a power boat. What drives you? Is it the wake you left behind? Is it your past? No…… the past is only residue. The wake: Interesting the word it not only means what is left behind a boat but it also means a watch or vigil of the body of a dead person before burial.

Since we see our past is dead: Paul’s statement is obvious.

Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

What is powering the boat is the motor, the present energy, the Holy Spirit. If we turn up the power, the boat goes faster. Our assignment becomes clearer!

You can increase the power and the speed by increasing your prayer life, meditation, praise/worship and reading of the Bible. Do your part!!! Don’t just sit and wait. Relationships take two and take an effort. God did His part. NOW…you do yours. Stepping out in faith, just one small step increase the power of the force that leads you: MORE POWER, MORE POWER.

You can adjust the speed and direction thru the power of the motor. You can even stop your progress if you turn of the motor by failing to listen to the Holy Spirit. Then you sit dead in the water, watching others step into their destiny…….and you are powerless until you turn the motor, (the Holy Spirit) back on!! We often look to things in our past and say: well this is not working because of my past, yet we see that the past cannot propel us, it is only residue………

The time you waste in remembering the past: steals time you could be spending in the Word, time you can be spending in manifesting your destiny. You cannot look behind you and in front of you at the same time! It is one or another.

Your future is in front of you………Jesus is leading you, the devil may be chasing you: but there are guarantees, promises in the Word that tells us: WE WIN.
